Pharmacy Operations Manager

Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Select, schedule, and develop pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance; resolve customer complaints and respond to non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Develop strong relationships with customers and enhance experience by focusing on healthcare services. Assist pharmacist in patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation and verification of medications where allowed by law; support healthcare services such as vaccines and health screenings where permitted. Exercise independent judgment to delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy; ensure on-time task completion and accountability for efficient workflow. Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies; manage core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule of activities; advise on allocation of pharmacy hours; maintain clean, stocked, and orderly facilities. Manage inventory and non-clinical administrative activities that do not require pharmacist licensure; oversee annual inventory preparation and compliance with policies and laws. Support recordkeeping, security safeguards, and proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment; participate in changes and action planning; ensure Good Faith Dispensing practices where applicable. Monitor and report prescription errors; participate in Continuous Quality Improvement; assist in resolving insurance claims and follow up with insurers and providers as needed. Assist Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Coordinate outreach and establish relationships with retail partners and off-site clinics as directed. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline and termination decisions; apply constructive discipline policies and hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness. Hire, on-board, train, and schedule technicians; monitor training completion and enforce policies for scheduling and development. Identify knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations and coordinate training or learning modules to address them. Ensure licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant; document licensure status using Walgreens resources where applicable. Oversee recruitment, record retention, and training procedures in accordance with company policy and laws. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification (or state-required certification/registration) and current knowledge of pharmacy/healthcare. Obtain required certifications and training as directed; participate in performance improvement plans; pursue professional development with mentorship and coaching. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). At least one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation rating on the last performance evaluation.
