The Mother Baby Post Partum department at our North Naples campus is a 28 bed unit that provides care to mothers following delivery of their babies. The Registered Nurse Women’s & Children’s Pavilion independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. This position provides direct nursing care to patients and assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvement and seeks to improve job skills. Maintains the principles of confidentiality. Understands legal/regulatory requirements related to release of information. Uses the information systems pertinent to the job. Participates in data collection on unit. Locates and documents medical and nursing patient care information in the electronic or paper medical record. Pulls up lab results using order entry computer. Understands the medical record as the principal source of patient information and performs complete chart audits. Performs thorough admission assessment using appropriate interview techniques within unit policy. Prioritizes assessments/reassessments as patient condition warrants. Assesses age-specific needs of the patient population served. Assesses barriers to learning and utilizes findings. Identifies and prioritizes patient needs while evaluating data; develops a sound plan of care using standards of nursing care. Re-evaluates and revises patient needs daily and as needed. Implements nursing care in an organized and efficient manner; evaluates effectiveness and interventions using critical thinking. Delegates patient care to other team members within their scope of practice. Checks emergency equipment and supplies when assigned. Delivers patient care and treatment using problem-solving skills. Has knowledge of medication dosages for the patient population served; administers medication safely and accurately. Initiates and coordinates patient/family teaching using individualized methods. Follows hospital policy regarding clinical pathways to evaluate plan of care and stays updated on unit and hospital policies; attends patient care conferences. Evaluates outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met. Addresses unresolved needs in discharge planning. Documents clearly and consistently in the EMR. Maintains positive and effective interaction with patients, families, peers, supervisors, and physicians. Provides feedback regarding problems and complaints and offers constructive suggestions. Uses chain-of-command for problem-solving and conflict resolution. Prioritizes patient treatment to best meet patient needs and completes care assignments efficiently. Utilizes resources and is familiar with unit-specific policies and procedures. Progress reports are made to the Charge Nurse as indicated; knows when to ask for assistance. Reports to oncoming shift the care to be provided and any needs that have yet to be addressed. Follows hospital standards related to INFOR and Kronos systems. Effectively uses the supply system and equipment for patient care; supports departmental activities to meet budget goals. Assumes responsibility for own learning needs; attends courses and in-services; maintains clinical skills required on unit; stays informed of current policies. Utilizes security systems for infant and pediatric safety. Education, Experience And Qualifications

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows. Specialty Requirements

NICU: Utilizes PowerChart tracking shell, understands obstetrical/neonatal nursing diagnoses, NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, basic cardiology certification within 60 days, neonatal specialties as applicable. MOM/BABY: Utilizes PowerChart, obstetrical/neonatal diagnoses, NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, basic cardiology within 60 days. LABOR AND DELIVERY: Fetal monitoring, obstetrical and neonatal diagnoses, cesarean/GYN case circulation and recovery, NRP within 90 days, STABLE within 1 year, ALS within 6 months, cardiology within 60 days, fetal monitoring course within 6 months. PEDIATRICS: PowerChart tracking, pediatric diagnoses, PALS within 6 months, moderate sedation within 6 months, basic cardiology within 60 days. Seniority level
