WSP is searching for a
Lead Civil Engineer
for our
Charlotte, North Carolina
office to support our Civil Design service line that serves power, industrial, and municipal clients across the southeast. Other considered locations include
Asheville, NC
and
Greensboro, NC .
The successful candidate will have strong client interaction, team leadership, and technical skills, working on projects such as erosion and sediment control, SPCC plans, hydraulics and hydrology design, civil grading, and landfill projects. You will also assist in expanding our Civil Engineering team’s client portfolio within our Earth & Environment Business Line.
Responsibilities include executing calculations, design options, reports, agency reviews, and construction drawings. The candidate should be adept at fostering long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities
Manage small to medium project design teams
Prepare scope of work and cost proposals
Coordinate with senior staff, project stakeholders, and other disciplines
Perform civil engineering tasks including erosion control design, SPCC plans, site grading with AutoCAD Civil3D, hydraulic systems, hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management
Prepare permit applications and respond to agency comments
Develop construction drawings and specifications
Generate client reports and drawings
Evaluate design options for cost-effectiveness
Mentor junior staff
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Civil design software
Travel as required by project needs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering
PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within a year
7-10 years of experience
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass WSP screening
Leadership and project management skills
Technical proficiency in engineering principles and regulations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in teams
Commitment to safety policies
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
