Overview
Electrical Parts Engineer
(EEE: Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) is required to be hands-on and provide technical leadership in parts selection, parts management, parts creation and quality control. You will support the development of space programs across all phases from proposals, through design and on to production support. Responsibilities
Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence while working closely with design engineers, supply chain, quality, and reliability engineers. You will coordinate with Engineering (Project, Design, Systems, Manufacturing) to ensure quality and adherence to design requirements. You will drive part standardization by recommending reuse of parts in the database (where appropriate), work with component manufacturers and distributors to align with their product roadmaps, and be responsible for ECAD library maintenance and new parts introduction in the ECAD library. You will review Product Change Notices (PCNs) and GIDEP alerts for their impact on components used, advise concerned teams on such alerts, and be responsible for Data Management and Part Number Management. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related field) with minimum 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Experience with component obsolescence tools and methods. Experience with end-of-life management, COTS, and counterfeit parts. Experience in setting up EDM and Parts Management practices. Understanding of EEE parts qualification and screening requirements. Knowledge of EIA and IPC standards as well as applicable military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards. Knowledge of Quality Assurance practices for Electronic Component Management Plan (ECMP). Knowledge of space design requirements, processes and applications. Solid understanding of configuration management, requirements traceability and related processes. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, positive attitude and highest ethics; able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Capable of multi-tasking; working on multiple projects and supporting production activities. Experience participating in PMPCB reviews, including preparation and presentation of approval requests for non-standard parts. Experience with Microsoft Office tools. Strong communication and documentation skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of high-density interconnects related to micro vias, fuzz/micro buttons, BGA packaging, and high-frequency electronics such as RF/microwave, MMIC, and high-speed digital. In-depth knowledge of passive and active electronic components, processors, memories, connectors, wires and cables, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free control, etc. Understanding of analysis techniques such as thermal, structural, high-speed digital, impedance control. Experience with grading tools. Experience in failure analysis/Root Cause Corrective Actions/Model Based Problem Solving. Experience presenting results and communicating with customers, consultants, and senior management. Design for Manufacturing and Design for Testing. Location
The ideal candidate will be within commuting distance to Albuquerque, NM (preferred). We also consider candidates within commuting distance to Colorado Springs, CO (alternative). Schedule
This is a full-time position. AV supports a flexible work schedule with days and hours nominally: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remote/Hybrid flex schedule is allowed 1–2 days per week. Salary Range
$90,000 - $135,000 BlueHalo (an AV company) pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation relies on several factors including position level, responsibilities, location, experience, education, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organization requirements, internal equity, and market data.
