Overview
Family Engagement Liaison - Spanish Bilingual role at Georgia Cyber Academy. The Family Engagement Liaison will provide a range of services to students and their families to build capacity within the family to assist in the student’s education at Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA). The goal is to support students by collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure student engagement with school platforms and programs and to facilitate successful completion of school requirements. Collaboration with other family engagement/resource roles will help provide training, facilitate engagement, and promote effective communication between parents, teachers, and support staff. Responsibilities
Welcome new students and families into the GCA school community to establish foundations for academic success through the Strong Start Program. Facilitate communication between parents/Learning Coaches and the school to meet student academic needs. Reach out to each family on the assigned caseload at least once per month via phone or Zoom to ensure they have support and answers to questions. Collaborate with the family engagement team, counselors, teachers, parents, administrators, and other staff to identify training needs for parents and students. Work with school staff to facilitate/host school-wide events, parent workshops, and other activities to ensure quality delivery of services. Educate parents to recognize the need for healthy home/school relationships and the GADOE Six Requirements on Building Capacity. Encourage parent participation in school activities and assist with academic coaching methods for home use. Provide technical assistance related to parental involvement as needed locally or at the district level. Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators on an ongoing basis regarding each student’s progress. Maintain accurate documentation of communications, needs, and academic supports; document conversations and attempts to reach families in Infinite Campus. Respond to Student/Staff emails and phone calls within 24 hours. Complete state standardized testing training and participate in state testing as assigned. Cross-functional duties may include assisting with Test Monitoring and Records & Enrollment processes. Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications
Associates degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. One (1) year of experience working with families as a support liaison, advisor, or equivalent role, developing parent mentors/parent training, OR equivalent. Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English. Certificates and Licenses
Desired GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate. Clear fingerprint/background check required. Other Required Qualifications
Experience working with diverse student populations. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite. Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework and GaDOE CCRPI. Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports; rapid learning of new technologies and platforms. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines; strong critical thinking, planning, and writing skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and effective communication. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time; stable home office setup if working remotely. Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field. GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate; TKES/LKES credentialed. Previous experience as a Learning Coach, Advisor, or Teacher at Georgia Cyber Academy; online educator experience; experience with online tools/curriculum/assessments. Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS), Canvas (LMS), Jigsaw Interactive, and Zoom. Bi-lingual. Work Environment
This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, home-based position with up to 20% travel. Some in-office days may be required during critical periods. Occasional in-person attendance for professional development, meetings, and events. Light lifting may be required.
