GAI Consultants is looking for a technically diversified Geology Manager 1 for the Geotechnical Engineering Group in Pittsburgh, PA, Canton, OH, Charleston, WV, or Richmond, VA areas. This position serves as a Subject Matter Expert/Project Advisor to the Power Generation Business Sector and all GAI service groups (including Infrastructure/Transportation, Community Development, Environmental, Water Resources, and Power Delivery). The ideal candidate will have experience developing client and business relationships and providing staff management and engineering geology expertise across a diverse range of multi-disciplinary design and construction projects. The candidate will perform project planning, design, and engineering geology services for Energy, Institutional, Industrial, Manufacturing, Municipal, and Transportation clients. The role offers a hybrid work schedule with some travel to project sites and client meetings. Essential Duties include leading and managing geotechnical projects and staff within the Power Generation Group and for clients served by GAI, as well as participating in business development initiatives. Responsibilities

include leading geotechnical projects, serving as technical lead for engineering and geology tasks, mentoring staff, assigning tasks, managing resources, leading teams to project success, reviewing deliverables, participating in recruitment and retention strategies, providing design direction on multi-discipline projects, developing design alternatives, and coordinating subcontractor activities. The role also involves delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability for projects managed, monitoring project costs, analyzing performance data, and developing recovery plans as needed, and collaborating to develop a business plan within the GAI Power Generation sector. The role also functions as a seller/doer to win new business opportunities. Business Development Responsibilities:

Up to 25% of job duties dedicated to Business Development; building client relationships across Energy, Institutional, Industrial, Manufacturing, Municipal, and Transportation sectors; leading pursuits, developing statements of qualifications and project scopes; marketing GAI services; serving as client contact; pursuing new work and maintaining relationships; coordinating scopes and fees with leadership; supporting contract negotiations; representing GAI at functions or conferences. General Characteristics : developing well-rounded consulting experience, emphasis on client development, involvement in professional societies, strategic thinking, and change leadership. Minimum Years Of Experience : 12+ years Education : B.S. or M.S. Geology Certification/Licensure : Driver’s License Technical Responsibilities : oversee and coordinate project tasks; support junior staff; familiarity with task management and contracts; recruiting and retaining staff; translating top-level strategy into day-to-day routines; talent development and career progression; coaching and mentoring. Management Responsibility : administrative supervision with broad objectives, mentoring, fostering professional attitudes, monitoring performance, ensuring processes follow organizational guidelines, inspiring staff, assigning tasks, allocating resources, reporting issues to management, promoting well-being and retention. Communication Skills : formal strategic and persuasive communications; represents area within practice; liaises with related professionals; regular interaction with leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others; emphasizes teamwork and leadership.
