Overview
Job Title: Plant Superintendent. Location: Winchester, KY (Relocation assistance provided). Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire/Permanent position. Pay range: $119,000 – $134,000 plus bonus.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent is accountable for safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, cost performance, employee training and relations in a 24/7 plastics manufacturing facility. This role involves monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas. The position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
Develop subordinates through education, training, and teamwork.
Motivate, support and guide all employees.
Communicate problems and obstacles to the plant manager and leadership team. Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising safety, product safety or integrity.
Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
Assist in preparation of the annual plant operating budget. Meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations as outlined by the plant manager.
Assist in employee relations issues.
Hire, train, direct and mentor staff and all plant employees with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
Lead plant in continuous improvement initiatives, such as 5S with safety, 6 Sigma, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing.
Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, manage overtime, minimize inventory, and reduce costs.
Support quality initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ensure employees complete required quality checks and audits.
Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues.
Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance.
This position is in our Winchester, KY plant.
Qualifications
Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Engineering and/or plastics major with experience preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent.
Proven track record of successful leadership positions.
Demonstrated history of a strong work ethic.
Comfortable in public speaking and training large groups of coworkers.
Must have above-average communication skills (written & verbal in English).
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including creating charts, graphs, SOPs, One Point Lessons, and presentations.
Must have a high level of integrity, trust, and ethical standards.
Must be able and willing to work overtime and a flexible schedule as needed to support all shifts.
Work Environment Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment. The noise level is usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
Compensation The annual base salary range for this role is from $119,760 to $134,730, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary. The incentive is a target of 12.5% with the opportunity to earn up to 25% on a quarterly basis.
