Job Summary The Senior Process Control System Engineer is responsible for transferring business needs into a process control plan. Elements of the process control plan/strategy include fit-for-purpose automation systems that allow better measure, monitor, and control of processes in real time, resulting in yield improvements and more stable operations. Integration of MES/data historian improves insights in (critical) process parameters, enhancing plant stability by eliminating known disturbances. The role also involves maintaining a sustainable cyber security solution by embedding cyber security controls and practices in the site’s organization, focusing on cyber security for the OT (Operational Technology) domain. The Senior Process Control System Engineer acts as a linking pin and facilitator, coordinating with process engineers, automation engineers, project engineers, contractors, etc. The Senior Process Control System Engineer holds a key position within the Manufacturing organization, collaborating with various disciplines such as process engineers, quality officers, plant performance engineers, instrumentation engineers, etc. This role requires extensive knowledge of the Dyneema process control systems in both theory and practice, as well as an understanding of process control system architecture, design, and OT cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities. Essential Functions All employees have the responsibility to:

Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including compliance with Avient Protective Materials requirements, rules, and procedures. Address any person behaving irresponsibly concerning SHE and Security. Report any SHE and Security incidents (including observed risks) to management.

Ensure all work is conducted safely and effectively, following all applicable procedures and policies. Maintain process control systems to produce the highest quality product cost-effectively, including preparing requests for system upgrades and modifications. Serve as DCS and Automation liaison for Dyneema, ensuring consistency across sites. Provide expertise to solve high-level system problems related to DCS and other automated production equipment. Identify needs for data analysis and promote the use of existing functionalities of the MES system. Professionalize and standardize systems, procedures, and methods to ensure control system reliability and integrity. Develop, support, and implement advanced process control strategies for operational improvements. Mentor junior Process Control Systems and Automation Engineers. Support production by driving improvements in the process control system to enhance quality, safety, cost, and efficiency. Comply with all job-related safety and training requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Minimum requirements for this position include an MS in a related technical field plus 5 years of experience in process control and automation; or a BS/BA with 7 years of experience; or an AA/AS with 8 years of experience; or 10 years of technical experience in process control and automation. Advanced knowledge of process control systems and methodologies including DCS, SCADA, etc. Demonstrated technical process control support and development ability. Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Diversified knowledge of automation systems and OT cybersecurity. Knowledge of ICS computer and network infrastructure, Microsoft operating systems, and applications. Willingness to respond to emergencies and work overtime as required. Knowledge of Siemens control systems. Physical Demands Requires standing and sitting for extended periods, talking, and listening. Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs. May occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Typically works in a manufacturing environment with loud noise levels and requires personal protective equipment.
