Service Monitoring Engineer The Department of Administration's Office of Technology and Information Services is the state’s central provider of IT services to state government agencies. We are seeking a talented Service Monitoring Engineer to join our team. This role is an integral part of our Vulnerability Remediation/Service Monitoring team. The Service Monitoring Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability and optimal performance of DTO Shared Services and infrastructure systems. This role monitors system dashboards, network operations, server uptime, shared service application status and hardware status across the enterprise. Respond promptly to outages and performance issues and ensuring the correct functional team is aware of any potential issues. Work closely with IT support, infrastructure and security teams to detect, report and resolve incidents and contributes to the reliability and resiliency of critical systems.

This position is onsite in beautiful Columbia, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

Monitor system dashboards for indicators of performance degradation, outages or equipment failures. Provide status updates on system health and incident resolution timelines on a regular basis. Triage and elevate alerts appropriately.

Analyze historical data and performance trends to identify recurring issues or potential points of failure. Recommend improvements based on analysis of monitoring data.

Maintain and configure monitoring tools for network, servers, endpoint and shared services availability. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of monitoring standards, playbooks, and response procedures.

Proactively identify and report aging or underperforming equipment. Collaborate with IT operations and infrastructure teams to schedule maintenance windows and ensure service availability during upgrades or patches.

Perform other duties as required. Due to the technical nature of this position, it is designated as an essential position.

Qualifications

A bachelor's or associate degree in computer science or information systems and six (6) years of experience in the support of Windows servers. Related experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis.

Hands on experience and knowledge of a MS Windows enterprise environment.

Additional Requirements

Extensive knowledge of enterprise monitoring systems.

Extensive hands-on experience operating and supporting an Enterprise Windows network environment.

Hands on experience and knowledge of Microsoft windows servers, Active Directory, M365 technology, desktop infrastructure and virtual servers.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

May be required to work beyond the standard 37.5-hour work week, including holidays.

Will be required to carry a laptop or cell phone for after-hours contact.

MS certification is preferred.
