JOB DESCRIPTION
The EE Systems Integration team is responsible for ensuring that electrical, electronic, and mechatronic systems are defined, specified, manufactured, integrated, and tested into systems and vehicles with maximum reliability and performance. As a Mechatronics Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for setting up and executing various tests on electro-mechanical components, sub-systems, and systems. This includes preparing test articles, building test fixtures, developing test circuits, installing test equipment and instrumentation, and executing tests according to the requestor’s procedures.
The Mechatronics Technician is the point of contact for the Mechatronics lab. Responsibilities include conducting periodic preventative maintenance on test and lab equipment, fabricating test setups, ensuring lab consumables are stocked and up to date, and general lab upkeep. Testing will involve evaluating system performance, electrical system performance tests, thermal characterization, and automation. You will utilize your expertise in these areas to support testing and development activities, working closely with the engineering lead.
Responsibilities
Support cross-functional teams (EE, Powertrain, Body, Chassis) with technician tasks.
Fabricate and assemble test fixtures and wiring harnesses supporting the teams.
Sustain the Mechatronics lab (inventory management, equipment check-in/out, logistics, safety walks, lab purge, expansion).
Execute test activities accurately and thoroughly.
Install test instrumentation on test articles per diagrams.
Manufacture PCBAs, electrical components, and build circuits for in-circuit and functional testing using schematics and standard equipment.
Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis on defective PCBAs or vehicle components.
Support automation engineers in building automated test equipment and developing data acquisition systems.
Support procurement and calibration of test equipment.
Maintain, repair, install, and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
Maintain a high standard of safety, efficiency, and cleanliness in the workshop.
Plan and organize work independently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or technical degree.
4-6 years of lab experience.
Mechanical fabrication experience (wiring harness and test fixtures).
Soldering skills (thermocouples or electronic components on PCBA).
Hands-on experience with electronic product rework.
Experience in automotive development environments.
Experience with test equipment (signal generator, voltage supplies, AC amplifiers).
Familiarity with Python scripting.
Knowledge of MS Office.
Bonus Qualifications
Experienced Python user.
Knowledge of PEAK Explorer, Vector CANalyzer, or other programming tools.
Experience with HV component testing.
