We are seeking a cleared or clearable IT Systems Engineering Section Manager for a critical role in our engineering organization to manage a team and ensure successful completion of projects. This is a dual role position, involving direct management and leadership of a team of highly skilled technical professionals supporting cutting-edge defense and security systems. It combines hands-on technical leadership with functional people management, contributing directly to mission-critical programs while developing and supporting engineering talent. Responsibilities

Your direct management responsibilities will include (~20% of your time)

Managing and guiding cyber systems engineers including IT and software professionals Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top engineering talent Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis Completing performance assessments of your team members Motivating your team members (engagement) and meeting with them regularly Providing mentoring and career development to each team member Coordinating training for each team member Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team\'s development activities Your technical program support duties will include (~80% of your time)

Leadership of engineering teams in the design, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-level cyber systems Program staffing for optimal execution Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members Working programs, proposals, and internally funded activities in a technical or leadership role Risk-mitigation planning and execution Strategic problem solving Earned value management Drive technical execution using best practices in secure development, automation, and network design Contribute to DevOps strategy and process improvement initiatives across environments Manage Cost Account Management (CAM) and Risk Management activities, where applicable Collaborate with peers and leadership to ensure optimized resource allocation and mission alignment Support deployment pipelines using the Atlassian suite and other CI/CD toolsets Automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency through scripting and scheduling tools

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree and 9 years engineering experience, OR Master\'s Degree and 6 years engineering experience, OR a PhD and 2 years engineering experience A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated functional management experience US Citizenship is required Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance to be considered. TS/SCI clearance must be in place by the start date and must stay in place through employment Demonstrated experience with enterprise architectures including Windows Server, RHEL, virtualization, and storage technologies Working knowledge of containerization, automation, and Software Defined Networking (SDN)

Preferred Qualifications

M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree Strong communication and interpersonal skills Broad technical background across IT, software development, and cybersecurity Experience with U.S. Government contracts or defense systems Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military Hands-on experience with networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Ciena Ability to create and interpret network architecture and configuration diagrams using commercial tools Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent Proven ability to represent organizational capabilities to customers and stakeholders
