Overview Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We’re offering a $11,250 sign-on bonus.

Respiratory Therapy at UMMC East Bank is a dynamic, growing department with approximately 70 staff members. As part of a large, integrated, academic healthcare system, the Respiratory Therapist (RT) has a vigorous role in the care of our patients and is an integral member of the intra-professional team.

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Schedule : This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift and will also work a rotation for every third weekend.

Compensation & Benefits Shift differential incentives:

$4.00/hr for nights

$2.00/hr for weekends

Responsibilities

Assessing patient needs and identifying expected outcomes.

Implementing respiratory interventions based on plan of care.

Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.

Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.

Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.

Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment.

Qualifications

Education

Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field

License/Certification/Registration

Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the NBRC

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Exceptions include: New Graduates only - must complete RRT within 6 months of hire date

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
