Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overall engineering project performance coordination with Engineering Manager, to execute certification/Simulation, tooling, proto, and the design activities to ensure program success. Supervises completion of engineering projects of assigned department and team within the definitions of the airframe manufacturer and airline specifications, FAA regulations, SSUSA requirements and within engineering budget and schedules. Serves as a working team member on the projects in addition to supervisory duties. Supervises personnel responsible for the completion and release of engineering documents, dynamic/static analysis tasks, parts list and engineering drawings. Coordinates the technical requirements of a project with the IPT and other teams as required. Provides leadership to the engineering teams for the assigned projects. Responsible for total quality and on-time output of the project team and designs/simulations. Responsible for the project teams outputs to internal and external deliverables: NRE budget & expenditures, schedule, scope of work, product definition, recurring costs and weight targets. Responsible for controlling the project scope and avoiding scope creep. Leads the project team in problem resolution and risk management; elevates risk through Engineering Management. Attends necessary meetings (Detail/PBS/Installation Design Reviews, PDR, CDR, FAI) and coordinates/supervises required resolutions. Performs supervisory functions with oversight from the manager: performance reviews, coaching/development, PTO approval, and maintaining a harmonious working environment. Exhibits Safran Leadership model behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Qualification: Must have a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Material Science, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or related field, or 12 years equivalent combination of related experience and education in lieu of degree. Work Experience: Technical knowledge; plus requires minimum of 4 additional years of experience in engineering related field. For Simulation Supervisor (643): With Masters degree the position requires 4 years of FEA related experience using LS-Dyna or Radioss; experience using Altair Hyper Works suite. Knowledge of NASTRAN or ANSYS is preferred. With Bachelors degree the position requires 6 years of FEA related experience using LS-Dyna or Radioss; experience using Altair Hyper Works suite or ANSYS. Professional Skills: Intermediate design/simulation skills; problem solving using 8D methodology; budget and risk management; DFMEA; scope management; MS Office; Lean principles; experience leading multiple projects; ability to develop project plans, risk logs, and status reports; strong leadership and relationship management; accountability and ownership; ability to communicate in written form and to operate office equipment; English proficiency. For Simulation Supervisor: FEA experience with LS-Dyna or Radioss; experience with HyperWorks or ANSYS; NASTRAN or ABAQUS preferred; understanding of hybrid II/III dummy kinematics; background in basic structural engineering and fatigue methods. Behavioral Skills: Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects; good planning and prioritizing skills.
