Overview
Summary: Performs high quality magnetic resonance imaging scans, patient care, and professional services. Operates MRI equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient\'s body for diagnostic purposes. Provides high degree of compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities
Performs MRI scanning of patients within department protocols; views images of body area being scanned on video display screen to ensure quality of images. Consults with Radiologist regarding situations requiring physician intervention.
Exercises the greatest degree of discretion in the handling and dissemination of confidential and highly sensitive medical, personal, and business information.
Screens patients prior to exam for any possible contraindications; ensures screening information is accurate; communicates any concern to Radiologist for instruction.
Interviews patient to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and to request removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated.
Positions patient on exam table utilizing correct coil as needed, following protocols requested by Radiologist, making patient as comfortable as possible. Communicates with patient often during procedure.
Observes patient through window of control room and/or on closed circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort.
Provides venous injections for contrast-enhanced exams.
Covers add-on procedures as needed, showing priority for in-patient exams.
At customer hospital sites, acts as a Company ambassador, working cooperatively with KMG management and all other personnel. Maintains a functional “dual reporting” relationship with KMG’s designated manager and the site’s Director of Radiology.
Constantly polices the MRI scan room environment in accordance with MRI policies and procedures to ensure the safety of patients, co-workers, visitors and other personnel.
Ensures required supplies are on hand for patient exams.
May transport patients for exam.
Reconfirms out-patient exam times.
In lieu of a Lead Technologist, facilitates and schedules emergency and preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Work Schedule Full-time with benefits. Evenings and weekends totaling 40 hours per week.
Qualifications
Certificates and Licenses:
ARRT Registration (or working towards); Venous Injection skills; CPR Certification; State License of applicable
Education/Experience:
Associate\'s degree (A. A.) in Radiological Technology or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
Personal Characteristics:
service oriented; compassionate; highly organized; accurate; dependable; respectful; honest; proactive; team supportive; open communicator.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to hospital personnel, patients, and other employees of the organization.
Computer Skills:
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, scheduling, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Physical Demands The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
