Automotive General Service Technician

The General Service Technician role is full time or part-time and is an hourly position based on needs of the business. The General Service Technician is responsible for performing basic routine vehicle repair and maintenance services in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications. This position is expected to deliver exceptional 5 Star service to our guests, through effective communication of vehicle issues and proposed solutions while ensuring that guest expectations for time commitments and quality are consistently met.

Position location: Monro, Inc. stores across brands; opportunities in retail locations, field management, store operations, and at the Store Support Center in Rochester, NY. Responsibilities
Accurately perform basic vehicle services and repairs in accordance with Monro standards.
Tire Services – wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, mounting, installation, and TPMS service.
Vehicle Services – lubrications, oil changes, basic maintenance (bulbs, wiper blades, filters), battery testing and installations.
Complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle and communicate additional needed services.
Assist in inventory management (pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking).
Support general store duties to maintain cleanliness and guest readiness.
Adhere to safety standards including wheel torque, oil safety, and compliance procedures.
Test drive vehicles per policy using designated routes while following traffic laws.
Understand and follow company policies, governmental standards, environmental codes, and OSHA standards.
Maintain technical knowledge through Monro University training and modules.
Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely (lifts, welders, brake lathes, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation
The hourly range for this role is $16 - $18. This role is eligible for additional compensation and incentives. Pay will be determined based on experience level.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Automotive training including basic car maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current valid driver’s license with satisfactory MVR; ability to operate customer vehicles for test drives.
Own a basic set of tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
Profile Summary
Ability to identify problems, collect data, and make practical decisions.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements This job operates in an automotive shop environment with potential exposure to noise, weather, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Requirements include flexible hours and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and reach overhead and below the knee as needed.
