Assistant Professor

Salary Range : $96,000 - $102,000 per academic year. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions. Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science as assigned by the chair based on departmental needs. Maintain a funded research program and develop or grow an externally funded research program in one or more of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Data Science and Engineering, Bioinformatics. Engage in service activities to support the University, city, state, region, and professional associations. Provide mentorship to students and junior faculty. Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Participate in meetings and other activities that advance the mission and goals of the department and college. Other duties as determined by the Dean and Department Chair. Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science or a related field at the time of employment (August 2026). A solid publication record and the potential to develop or continue to develop a strong research group with externally funded research program. Interest and ability to contribute to one or more of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning with applications; Data Science and Engineering with applications; Bioinformatics. The Department of Computer Science at UCCS is NSA/DHS designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD) and in Research (CAE-R). It comprises 22 full-time faculty, with ~700 majors, ~600 undergraduates, ~70 masters, and ~50 PhD students across two PhD programs. The department emphasizes high research activity and supports students through NSF SFS, DoD Cyber Scholarship Program, and related initiatives. More information:
