Staff Nurse-Intensive Care Unit Float Pool-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Nights
The Clinical Nurse for the Mount Sinai nursing float pool is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients across various units. Responsibilities
Deliver patient care by incorporating Relationship Centered Care principles and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards. Assess and evaluate patient care needs, using critical thinking skills in care management. Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans. Prioritize patient care activities, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning post-hospital care, delegating as appropriate. Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans, transitions, health promotion, and disease prevention. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Manage assignments within the Modified Primary Nursing model, efficiently allocating resources. Patient Experience
Model Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, PHR, and Unit Collaboration. Respect patient values, preferences, and needs in all care aspects. Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Use evidence-based practices to enhance understanding of patient perceptions. Address concerns through service recovery and escalate issues when necessary. Demonstrate caring, respect, empathy, and active listening. Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps. Quality and Safety
Practice safe, patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers. Maintain clinical skills crucial for quality and safety. Implement process improvements based on evidence and institutional protocols. Participate in peer and institutional review processes. Engage in quality improvement projects and research activities. Contribute to safety practices and compliance measures. Apply high reliability principles to prevent high-risk behaviors. Escalate safety hazards following institutional protocols. Use IT documentation to support quality initiatives. Operations
Perform charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinate with leadership to ensure appropriate resource utilization. Escalate resource or staffing issues promptly. Document thoroughly and accurately, complying with standards. Facilitate patient throughput each shift. Professional Development
Support a positive environment for colleagues, patients, and families. Advance clinical competence from novice to expert. Project a professional image demonstrating caring and respect. Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred; ADN with recent experience or pending BSN acceptable. Experience:
Relevant clinical experience; new grads must demonstrate current nursing knowledge. Licensing and Certification:
Valid NY RN license, BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS as applicable. Other:
Membership in NYSNA-MSH collective bargaining unit. Compensation
The hourly rate is $68.59, with actual salary depending on experience, education, and operational needs. This does not include bonuses or other benefits.
