Job Summary
As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect. Leads and directs others through change. Uses communication strategies including chain of command and issue escalation. Participates in problem identification and resolution. Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit operations and patient care. Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance. Solves problems with other departments to assist member problem resolution. Prioritizes, delegates, and supervises work assignments to ensure patient care completion. Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Nursing Process: Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care reflecting assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes. Ensures multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education. Ensures plans reflect admission/outpatient data, age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care, and appropriate acuity. Discusses plans with patient, family, and completes in a timely manner. Monitors progress, revises plans as needed, and ensures discharge planning and education. Ensures patient safety (medications, procedures, falls, decubitus prevention, infection prevention) and optimal pain control. Ensures patient understanding of medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions at hospital and discharge. Patient Care Experience: Practices customer service standards, promptly answers call lights and patient requests, makes referrals, maintains confidentiality, ensures a clean and functional work environment, and provides compassionate care and clear patient education. Aims to exceed patient and member expectations. Team Commitment: Demonstrates effective teamwork, handles conflicts constructively, accepts feedback, mentors staff, participates in mandatory meetings, and supports unit learning needs and attendance requirements. Promotes a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership and aims to minimize overtime. Basic Qualifications
6 months recent (within the last 5 years) full-time equivalent in ED or Critical Care, or successful completion of a Kaiser Permanente ED training program or approved equivalent within prior 12 months. If inexperienced RN is considered, must be a graduate of a BRN-approved RN program and have completed 768 hours of supervised RN student clinical training (for RN/IPs new graduates and experienced RNs not meeting above requirements). Applicants must successfully complete a Kaiser Permanente Nursing Orientation Program. IP applicants must obtain RN license within 3 months of hire. Education

Experienced RNs: Applicant must have a minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience within the past three years in the clinical area of the position.
