Pharmacy Operations Manager

Walgreens . This role will remain open until filled. Responsibilities
Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow. Ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Assist pharmacist in the delivery of patient care including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Conduct patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision (where allowed by law). Support healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Within policy, delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy. Ensure on-time task completion and maintain efficient workflow. Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies as directed. Drive pharmacy operations excellence, coordinate daily activities, and manage inventory and supplies. Ensure compliance and proper recordkeeping for business administrative activities and inventory management. Support recordkeeping, security safeguards, and adherence to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities. Monitor and address insurance processing to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections; follow up with insurers and providers and participate in third-party audits. Assist and support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Coordinate community outreach, immunization clinics, and partnerships as directed by the Pharmacy Manager. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including disciplinary actions. Maintain a constructive discipline policy and ensure technicians comply with state and federal laws. Manage attendance and timeliness, and improve performance through engagement and action planning. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Ensure timely training completion and adherence to company policies for scheduling and training. Identify knowledge gaps and support team members with hands-on training or learning modules. Ensure licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant with regulatory requirements; utilize Walgreens resources for verification. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by policy and law. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification and state-required certifications. Pursue ongoing knowledge and skills in pharmacy and healthcare. Obtain required certifications and training, and follow performance improvement plans as directed. Seek professional development, monitor performance, solicit feedback, and engage mentors as applicable. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or other key emails. Participate in store/pharmacy meetings and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except where prohibited by location). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation. Salary information: The current salary range for this position is $22.50 per hour - $31.00 per hour. The actual hourly salary within this range will depend on geography, skills, education, experience, and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
