Responsible for ensuring the proper dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines, company policies, and procedures. Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management, and enhance customer experience. Reviews and interprets prescriptions to ensure safety, efficacy, and appropriateness. Contacts and confers with physicians regarding any irregularities. Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating customer needs and proactively offering services. Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical providers as needed. Performs pharmacist tasks including drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and accurately dispenses prescribed medications when necessary. Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards. Assists pharmacy manager with establishing procedures to promote efficient workflow, including assigning roles and coordinating activities. Responsible for opening, closing, and shift change duties. Ensures the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. The pharmacist has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the elements of Good Faith are present. Maintains current knowledge of EPIC and proposes and implements enhancements to further promote productivity. Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims, resolves customer issues, and participates in third-party audits. Follows up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, and suggests alternatives as needed. Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as diabetes awareness and other preventive healthcare services. Develops and maintains relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses. Participates in community outreach activities. Assists with staff hiring, training, coaching, and performance monitoring. Promotes teamwork and employee development. Maintains current knowledge and skills through reading, training, and professional development. Obtains necessary certifications and credits. Interprets prescribing provider’s instructions, manages inventory, and maintains financial records. Provides training and guidance to pharmacy interns, monitors their performance. Takes patient history, makes initial assessments, and refers patients to appropriate practitioners. Manages medication orders, including age-specific considerations, to ensure safety. Participates in pharmacotherapeutic planning and manages own practice effectively. Supervises healthcare team members and contributes to departmental goals and reports. Provides drug information and education, participates in committees. Maximizes safety and efficiency through automation. Completes assigned goals. Specifications Experience Minimum: One year of retail pharmacy experience. Education Minimum: B.S. or Pharm.D. Training Preferred: BLS/ACLS certification, advanced training or equivalent experience. Skills Basic computer literacy, interpersonal skills, clinical awareness. Preferred: Advanced order entry, Microsoft Office, clinical experience. Licensure Active, unrestricted pharmacy license for the state or eligibility. Must acquire within 120 days of hire. Seniority level
