Overview
Clinical Nurse II: SICU/Neuro ICU Nights - 36 hours per week. Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2. Work Shift: Night (United States of America). Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00. The SICU and Neuro ICU unit has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds and serves critically ill adult patients (14 years and older) with a 50/50 split between neuro and surgical populations. Care focus includes life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ failure, hemodynamic instability, and weaning challenges. Typical nursing needs include comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of lab values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring. The unit utilizes a range of advanced monitoring and procedures, including ICP monitoring, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial monitoring, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive transfusion among others. Responsibilities
Implementation of physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures and tests, and document treatment as required by policy and regulations. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions. Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care; apply sound nursing judgment in care management decisions. Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses. Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered. Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients. Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain professional nursing standards. Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate). Current NYS Registered Nurse license. Obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills. Knowledge of quality concepts and problem-solving tools to support quality improvement.
