Responsibilities
Provide quality practical nursing care to clinic patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Provider, within the scope of LPN licensure and FMG Scope of Practice Policy.
Assist providers with patient visits, execute routine nursing protocols, and provide clinical support to professional medical staff.
Participate in patient care planning and assist with or perform therapeutic/diagnostic procedures and tests; report nursing observations/assessments and update information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
Manage a demanding workload with excellent customer service for patients/families, multidisciplinary team members, practitioners, and the public.
Follow established standards of care; escalate unusual or complex tasks to an RN or provider as directed.
Essential Job Duties
Prepare patients for practitioner visits; room patients, obtain and record vital signs and other information (height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, presenting problem); chaperone and document the exam while ensuring patient privacy and comfort.
Perform or assist with patient care, diagnostic tests, and clinical procedures within the scope of licensure and established protocols; refer complex or urgent situations to an RN or provider.
Assist with point-of-care testing (CLIA-Waived Tests) follow established protocols.
Administer patient medications per provider orders; track and log medication usage per policies; inventory counts of controlled substances.
Document procedures and interactions in the patient’s medical record; enter, pend, and sign orders as appropriate.
Organize exam rooms, maintain cleanliness and restock supplies; prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain related equipment.
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and effective communication tailored to the population served by the department.
Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements
Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
One year of LPN work experience in a clinic setting OR two years of acute care experience.
LPN work experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
