Responsibilities and expectations include supporting the Store Manager in store operations, promoting a sales culture, and providing outstanding guest service experiences.
Responsibilities Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using Point-of-Sale (POS) system; handle transactions and provide a receipt while ensuring top-notch guest service.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate customer issues and complaints to the Store Manager in a timely and professional manner when appropriate.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, including new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training staff in company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, address unsatisfactory performance as directed, and ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure associates understand all policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
Schedule store associates, manage breaks and meals, and supervise staffing levels to maintain exceptional guest service.
Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked.
Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in proper working order.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ensure daily shipment.
Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative tasks.
Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize stock for accessibility and display.
Reconcile daily transactions; manage cash and deposits according to guidelines.
Verify shipments and record discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate findings to management.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing.
Maintain safety and report injuries per guidelines.
Assist in maintaining store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Adhere to all company policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Qualifications Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills.
Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest.
Clear verbal and written communication; English language skills required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives.
Work independently and in a team; manage tasks timely.
Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respect in the workplace.
Operate POS system and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing.
Complete required paperwork accurately; follow written or verbal instructions.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
Ability to work alone or in environments requiring standing and movement up to 12 hours per day.
Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
