Temporary Research and Instruction Associate – UNC Chapel Hill Libraries
This temporary position is primarily on‑site with occasional evenings and weekends. The Associate will support the Undergraduate Library Research & Instruction team in delivering core services, information literacy instruction, research consultations, and outreach programming.
Position Summary
Plan and deliver information literacy instruction for first‑year undergraduates in person and virtually.
Provide research support in person and virtually.
Support and deliver outreach and co‑curricular programming (e.g., Week of Welcome, Long Night Against Procrastination).
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling instruction requests, managing registration for outreach events, and coordinating supplies.
Mentor and supervise graduate student employees in collaboration with permanent staff.
Teach up to 15 classes per week during peak instruction times.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience teaching high school or college students.
Experience providing research support.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse user communities.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self‑motivated and organized, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience providing library instruction.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements None specified.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. The Associate will report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual reporting training.
