Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The University Libraries aspires to set the standard for public university research libraries in the digital age.

Position Summary The Temporary Research and Instruction Associate will work collaboratively with the Undergraduate Library Research & Instruction team to provide core services with an emphasis on information literacy instruction and research consultations in a dynamic learning environment. At peak instruction times, the Associate may teach approximately 15 classes/week. They will support established outreach programs such as Week of Welcome, Week of Balance, Long Night Against Procrastination, and new student orientation events. This position is primarily on-site; occasional night and weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver information literacy instruction for first-year undergraduates, in-person, and virtually
Provide research support in-person and virtually
Support and deliver outreach and co-curricular programming
May perform administrative duties such as schedule incoming English 105 instruction requests, managing registration for outreach and instruction events, coordinating supplies needs.
May mentor and supervise graduate student employees in collaboration with permanent Undergraduate Library Research & Instructional Services staff
The Temporary Research and Instruction Associate must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience teaching high school or college students
Experience providing research support
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse user communities, including students, faculty, researchers, colleagues, and community members
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated and organized, with strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience providing library instruction
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
