Overview

Location: 435 Lewis Avenue-Midstate Med (10123). Shift: 6:45am - 3:15pm every other weekend and holiday. Work where every moment matters. Public Safety Officers serve as front line guardians to the Hartford HealthCare Community by providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure and prepared for all of our patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians and physicians. Officers are equipped to prevent hazardous situations with their presence, respond and manage hazardous and emergency situations, and provide support and resources when situations are successfully managed. Responsibilities

Provides professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and the first responder community. Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns or other problems. May be assigned to fixed areas to check credentials, provide information or directions. When assigned to mobile patrols, operates vehicles in a safe manner complying with all traffic and safety rules. Provides a timely response, uses problem solving to take appropriate action to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards. Maintains current knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and performs work in accordance with these guidelines. Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains accurate activity logs and completes reports and documentation. Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant. Informs supervisor or other leadership of unusual situations and requests additional assistance as needed. Completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications

One (1) year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) required. High school diploma/GED required. Valid driver’s license required Valid CT Guard Card required Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred Basic First Aid and CPR preferred Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) preferred Multilingual preferred Ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction based on the current circumstances. Focused on providing an exceptional experience to patients, customers, staff, organizations, and partners. Ability to analyze and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, emergencies. Attention to detail and ability to handle tasks independently. Basic to intermediate computer and technology skills, electronic tools and resources.
