Location: 81 Retreat Ave HH Core Bldg (10067). Shift: 1045 pm till 715 am; may include weekends and holidays. Overview

Public Safety Officers serve as front line guardians to the Hartford HealthCare Community by providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure and prepared for patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians and physicians. Officers are equipped to prevent hazardous situations with their presence, respond to and manage hazardous and emergency situations, and provide support and resources when situations are successfully managed. The Hartford Hospital Public Safety department provides security services to the hospital community with certified staff and ongoing training. Responsibilities

Provide professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and first responder community. Patrol the facility to identify safety concerns; check credentials, provide information or directions; operate vehicles safely if assigned to mobile patrols. Respond promptly to incidents, use problem solving to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards. Maintain knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and perform work accordingly. Share information with other Public Safety Officers; maintain accurate activity logs and complete reports and documentation. Partner with law enforcement and other first responders when necessary; inform supervisor of unusual situations and request additional assistance as needed. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications

One (1) year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) required. High school diploma/GED required. Valid driver’s license required. Valid CT Guard Card required. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required. Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred. Basic First Aid and CPR preferred. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred. Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) preferred. Multilingual preferred. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment; work with little direction based on circumstances. Focused on providing an exceptional experience to patients, customers, staff, organizations, and partners. Ability to analyze and solve difficult situations, emergencies, and problem events. Attention to detail and ability to handle tasks independently. Basic to intermediate computer and technology skills, electronic tools and resources. We take great care of careers.
