Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, international relations, business, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a congressional office, executive branch, defense industry, or government relations role.
Minimum 5 years direct legislative affairs experience.
Strong understanding of the congressional legislative process and defense budget cycle.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret level clearance.
Job Description Lockheed Martin Government Affairs is seeking a driven, collaborative professional to join our Congressional Affairs team as an Operations Manager, Legislative Affairs, focusing on programs within Lockheed Martin’s Aeronautics business area. This position is critical to advancing Aeronautics priorities on Capitol Hill, leading detailed legislative analysis, and engaging with internal stakeholders.
Ideal candidates should possess a solid background in the legislative process, with direct experience working with the four Congressional defense committees being required. The candidate will be expected to register as a federal lobbyist and will be responsible for direct lobbying on Capitol Hill. Additionally, the candidate will have several internal responsibilities, such as analysis and contributing to grassroots activities, including supplier fly-ins and other events. This position is ideal for someone with comprehensive legislative knowledge seeking to further develop their career as a federal lobbyist. This role will report to the Vice President of Congressional Affairs for Aeronautics programs.
