Certified Infant / Toddler Assistant Teacher
to join our team of educators.
This full-time, salaried position is part of JCC Greater Boston's Early Learning Centers. The role focuses on providing a positive, nurturing environment that fosters learning and growth for children of diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate is an experienced, dedicated educator with a kind and compassionate approach to working with children and collaborating with colleagues.
As a Certified Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher, you will help shape the educational journeys and social-emotional growth of our students. You will collaborate with a team of educators and develop engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that spark curiosity and learning.

This is a full-time, salaried position offering a competitive starting salary of $43,000–$44,625 annually. Salary will depend on the scope of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, and internal equity. JCC Greater Boston also has openings for part-time Teachers with multiple shift options across age groups (infants, toddlers, preschool) or floater positions; please contact us to explore these options.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with Lead Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum
Communicate and document children’s interactions and experiences in alignment with best practices and policy
Collaborate with Co-Teachers to assess developmental stages and maintain records, including progress reports and play-based assessments (e.g., COR Advantage)
Use best practices per Mass EEC, JCC SHEVA frameworks, and curriculum guidelines; adhere to EEC regulations and NAEYC guidelines
Maintain an organized, vibrant classroom environment that promotes health, safety, and development
Set positive limits and provide emotional safety; maintain effective classroom management
Incorporate input from the Child Development Specialist
Document learning as an instructional tool using portfolios, checklists, observations, digital tools, or other methods
Review and update files, noting allergies or special traits pertinent to each child
Additional Instruction and Learning
Instruct and foster learning through age-appropriate activities and play-based experiences
Help each child develop a positive self-image and independence
Support physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth; facilitate verbalization of feelings
Promote respect for the rights of others
Family Engagement
Establish positive relationships with families through conversations, feedback, and conferences
Aid families in transitions to school; communicate development and curriculum updates daily
Participate in scheduled parent conferences; maintain professionalism and confidentiality
Standard Staff Expectations
Create a welcoming environment where individuals are valued

Attend meetings and contribute to department goals

Requirements Education and Experience:
EEC Certification or eligibility to become certified immediately, plus a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of supervised relevant work experience. An A.A. in Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred but not required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion.

Physical Requirements Must be willing and able to work in person at the Newton site. Daily outdoor playground duties required; ability to stand, walk for long periods, climb stairs, bend, kneel, reach, and lift/carry young children up to 20–30 pounds; ability to be at child’s eye level.
