Research Lab Technician II

USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension lab seeks a Research Lab Technician II to join its kidney research program. Position duties include a wide range of laboratory responsibilities in support of kidney research, including mouse husbandry, animal studies, and basic laboratory techniques. Duties will be performed after appropriate training and may evolve over time. Responsibilities
Mouse husbandry: maintenance of breeding colonies, weaning of litters, mouse identification, collection of tissue, blood, and urine, and maintenance of records in a computer database. Assist in planning, performance, and interpretation of animal studies. Experimental techniques may include mouse surgeries, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, genotyping, quantitative PCR, bioinformatics, and advanced tissue clearing approaches (after training). Lab management duties: ensuring animal research regulatory compliance, administration of IACUC protocols, general lab maintenance, ordering and reagent preparation, and other duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications
Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science. Preferred Experience: 1 year of work in a basic science lab. Minimum Education: Associate’s degree, specialized/technical training, or combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education. Minimum Experience: 2 years. Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols; knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
