Located in New Britain, CT, Central Connecticut State University (Central) is a constituent unit of the Board of Regents for Higher Education (BOR), Connecticut State Colleges and Universities. Central offers a vibrant learning-centered community dedicated to teaching and to scholarship. We are accepting applications for two (2) Police Officer positions in the Police Department at Central. Incumbents will successfully complete training and probationary requirements for appointment to Police Officer, with responsibility for protection of life and property. Full‑Time 40 hours per week Shifts determined once hired (1st, 2nd, 3rd) May require work on holidays and weekends IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

Provide crowd control at various campus events and activities Monitor designated areas to ensure physical security and authorized access Give direction and routine information to the public Participate in evacuation activities for fire, bomb threats or other disasters Operate firefighting apparatus as needed Conduct cruiser, foot, and bicycle patrols Provide traffic and/or crowd control Assess need for further assistance and arrange timely support Gather background information and provide threat assessments for high‑risk locations Respond to emergency situations and provide CPR or first aid to injured parties Assist State Police in investigation of major criminal acts Maintain building security and perform patrol duties during heightened alert levels under Homeland Security procedures Direct traffic and enforce motor vehicle and parking regulations Initiate and conduct investigations of violations, suspicious activities, or reports of incidents occurring within jurisdiction Conduct on‑site investigations, interview witnesses, arrest individuals at scene, and issue summons Record information, apply for and serve arrest warrants, process paperwork on arrests and activity reports Arrange surety and non‑surety bond payments or written promise to appear (WPA) Provide court testimony and conduct special programs, projects, and services as required May process arrested individuals, including determining charges, fingerprinting, photographing, initiating NCIC check, searching, removing and inventorying personal belongings and transporting arrested persons to lock‑up May conduct safety training, certification and/or recertification courses May perform minor equipment repairs, make public presentations regarding crime prevention and safety, serve as dispatcher, and perform related duties as required ABOUT US

Certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut pursuant to regulations promulgated by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council. Successful completion of prescribed training and probationary requirements set forth in the class of Protective Services Trainee. Ability to analyze emergency situations and develop effective courses of action; utilize computer software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and proofreading skills; interpersonal skills. Authorized to work lawfully in the United States by date of appointment. Must possess and maintain certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle operator's license. Must be eligible to bear arms. May be required to obtain and retain Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Incumbents must obtain and retain a Standard First Aid certificate and CPR certificate. Incumbents must be willing to accept assignments or transfers to any region of the state and work a flexible schedule. Incumbents must establish residence within Connecticut after completion of the training program. Incumbents may be required to be on twenty‑four (24) hour call. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General good health; sufficient strength, stamina, agility, endurance, and auditory and visual acuity. Must pass a swim test including swimming 100 yards within four (4) minutes. WORKING CONDITIONS
