Sys Mgr OccSafety & Health / Environment of Care role at Hartford HealthCare. Location: 9 Farm Springs Rd, Farmington, CT 10566. Work where every moment matters. Join Hartford HealthCare’s System Support Office to support a growing group of employees whose responsibilities evolve to support the system as a whole. This role provides and coordinates OH&S programs, analyzes OSHA statistics, supports workers’ compensation processes, and participates in EOC/Safety committees as an OH&S expert. Position Summary
Management oversight including the implementation, standardization, integration, centralization and optimization of the Occupational Safety and Health (OH&S) program across the HHC system. Provides and coordinates risk assessments and acts as a technical resource for OH&S programs. Manages root cause analyses and trends of OSHA metrics for each HHC entity to ensure proper program focus and development. Investigates inquiries, complaints, and citations from OSHA and the CT State Workers’ Compensation Commission. Presents information to HHC and entity ELTs to benchmark and track work related injuries and claim experience. Provides direct support for HHC affiliates and acts as a representative on EOC/Safety Committees as an OH&S expert. Develops and implements OH&S training, manages ergonomic assessments and workstation improvements, and serves as Transportation Coordinator for the System Support Office with DOT consults. Develops and writes policies and procedures. Provides back up support for workers’ compensation administration. Performs other duties as assigned by the System Director of EOC and Regulatory Compliance. Position Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility
Manages Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) risk assessments, policies and KPIs for all HHC entities. Conducts OH&S risk assessments and recommends corrective actions for areas such as Indoor Air Quality, PPE, noise, heat/cold stress, and confined spaces. Manages OSHA metrics and trends to reduce risk and liability for OH&S programs (e.g., slips/trips/falls, material handling, workplace violence). Acts as a consultant and resource to all Hartford Healthcare affiliates on OH&S incidents and accidents, including transportation matters. Manages training for departmental staff, Safety Coordinators, EOC/Safety Committee members; administers the Grainger LMS system to ensure policies and training requirements are met. Responsible for OSHA and Joint Commission regulatory requirements related to OH&S job hazard assessments. Collaborates with departments to provide EH&S support through effective communication and cooperation. Manages the function and compliance of all HHC Colleague Safety Committees. Manages the HHC Office Ergonomics program. Manages response to OSHA investigations, complaints, hospitalizations and onsite visits. Working Relationship
This Job Reports To: Director, Environment of Care and Regulatory Compliance. Qualifications
Education
Minimum: BS or BA in a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field. Experience
Minimum: 5-7 years of experience in occupational safety and health. Strong knowledge of LOTO, Respiratory Protection, formaldehyde, hearing conservation, ladders, bloodborne pathogens OSHA standards. Strong presentation and training skills. Preferred: Experience in Worker’s Compensation. Licensure, Certification, Registration
Preferred: CSP (Certified Safety Professional). ALCM (Associate in Loss Control Management). Language Skills
Must be able to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization. Knowledge, Skills And Ability Requirements
Extensive working knowledge of OSHA regulations and EH&S programs. Ability to work with electronic data and claim management software. Ability to work with legal defense firms and testify on behalf of HHC. Ability to lead committees, teams, and focus groups to accomplish objectives.
