The Seattle Colleges are looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who will teach part-time in Parent Education. Successful applicants will be able to work with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment. Teaching assignments depend on the instructor’s background, scheduling, and available courses. Availability may include in-class, hybrid, and online formats, with schedules that can include days, evenings, and weekends. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part-time faculty is $7,110.33 - $10,649.33 per month (P1: A1-E7). Target start rate for a typical 5-credit single-class workload per quarter is $7,110.33 - $8,226.33. Responsibilities

Provide high-quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote student learning. Assess student progress and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic success. Ensure course materials are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards. Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities. Uphold the mission and values of Seattle Colleges by supporting student achievement and contributing to a positive learning environment. Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process. Qualifications

An understanding of the goals and role of the community college. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels on topics related to the study area. AA in Early Childhood Education (ECE)/Parent Education or related field. Knowledge of teaching adults, including child development, positive guidance and discipline, parenting within cultural frameworks, and building community networks of support. Willingness to meet ADA requirements and to provide transportation to assigned sites as needed (sites are primarily off-campus). Commitment to working in a diverse college community with students from varied socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Innovative teaching methods, including use of technology and collaborative learning. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting. Ability to teach in Parent Education to students in childcare and community settings, online, and in Parent Education Child Study Laboratory classes (parent cooperatives) on campus and in community settings. Develop classes related to family life and children (birth to age eighteen), with curricula incorporating an anti-bias framework and inclusive, equitable teaching practices. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus. Application Procedures
