Full-time Subject: Biology Department: Teacher Start Date: Next year opening Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton, and Mecklenburg counties. Join us to shape the future for your students and yourself. Your responsibilities as a Lead Teacher Our teachers are central to our mission, developing students’ knowledge, skills, and character. Responsibilities include: Reviewing and facilitating KIPP NC’s scripted curriculum, especially in Math & Science (Grades 9-12) Delivering lessons with fidelity according to the pacing guide Creating responses and documents to hold students accountable Using assessment data to inform instruction and adjust lessons accordingly Maintaining accurate records and gradebooks Building a Positive School and Classroom Culture Embodying and maintaining school values and policies Developing positive relationships with students, families, and staff Participating in school functions and community events Demonstrating a Growth Mindset Collaborating with coaches for professional growth Receiving and incorporating feedback Attending professional development sessions Qualifications Deep commitment to KIPP NC’s mission and students’ potential Valid North Carolina teaching license or willingness to pursue certification Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field Pass criminal background check Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years of teaching experience in Biology or related Science Experience in high-performing charter schools or with marginalized populations Success in raising achievement levels of marginalized students Passing Praxis exams by September 2025 Fluency in Spanish Additional Information Hours: M, Th, & F 7:30am - 3:30pm; Tu & W 7:30am - 5:00pm Curriculum and resources provided Monthly Teacher Work Days with professional development KIPP Employee Mindsets All Means All See a Need, Fill A Need Openness to Feedback Student Centered We offer a competitive salary, benefits including health coverage at no cost, 403b with employer match, professional development, licensure support, and generous time off, including major holidays and summer break.
