Responsibilities
Provides server hardware and software support Microsoft Windows Server Systems and Application Administration Performs troubleshooting/problem resolution. Routinely reviews Microsoft Windows Server and communications environments to ensure they satisfy current requirements and function as efficiently as possible Maintains system and provides system startups or shutdowns as required. Isolates, identifies, analyzes, evaluates and resolves complex hardware, software and/or communications problems Problems often involve incompatibility or faulty interfaces in complex telecommunication path(s), installed software applications or hardware and network facilities at the workstation or server level Planning and Evaluation: Participates in feasibility/performance studies of implementing near and long-term Microsoft Windows Server computing strategies based on standard DLA technical architecture. Performs detailed research of system hardware/software requirements, technical memoranda and architecture standards. Contributes to technical evaluations and summary reports of findings for economic analyses, technical specifications, funding requirements, benchmark instructions, and audit and verification procedures required for acquisition of computer resources Serves as liaison between the local agency, DLA, Primary Level Field Activities (PLFAs) and, where necessary, with vendors and contractors to determine feasibility and effectiveness of Microsoft Windows Server hardware/software/communications requirements for inclusion in contracts Server hardware/software/communications requirements for inclusion in DLA, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Joint Service Contracts Qualifications
To qualify for a : IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) – GS – 2210 – 12, your qualifications must include: A. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: principles and methods for integrating information system components system administration methods and procedures IT security principles and methods Windows Server system security methods and procedures IS equipment characteristics and networking technologies agency mission, objectives, terminology, and management practices test and evaluation procedures analysis and evaluation methods maintain server integrity and availability optimize systems performance mitigate security vulnerabilities initiate corrective or preventive actions such as increasing memory to improve performance plan and coordinate installation of new equipment and new / upgraded products develop and translate project requirements recommend additional components to improve overall systems performance monitor and troubleshoot systems provide on-the-job training for lower graded Windows Server system administrators participate in teams or ad hoc groups working towards a common goal prepare and present studies, reports and briefings represent the organization in interactions with other organizations Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations, which can be creditable.
