Overview
UEM Data Specialist position at the University of Georgia (Athens Area). The role supports the Office of Utility and Energy Management (UEM) and collaborates with FMD IT to deliver data solutions for sustainability and resiliency. Responsibilities
Analytics Dashboard and Data Model Development: Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations (Qlik, Power BI) to support energy management initiatives. Conduct advanced analysis of large datasets to uncover trends and opportunities for energy efficiency. Develop analytics resources that enhance transparency, accountability, and operational performance. Execute forecasting and predictive modeling projects. Perform data preprocessing and exploratory analysis on structured and unstructured datasets. Integrate external data sources to enrich internal datasets and improve insight quality. Validate data used in reports and queries. Support for Analytics Strategy and Data Literacy: Execute analytics strategy in coordination with IT and energy management teams. Maintain and enhance reporting platforms, particularly in Qlik Cloud. Apply predictive analytics and AI techniques. Maintain data dictionaries and metadata. Provide technical support and training to stakeholders and promote data literacy. Data Source Integration and Validation: Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows to consolidate data from diverse sources into a comprehensive energy data catalog. Monitor data pipelines with FMD IT. Conduct end-to-end data validation to ensure accuracy and reliability. Stakeholder Collaboration and Data Insight Development: Gather data requirements, translate them into actionable insights, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Promote data-driven decision-making and sustainability goals. Other Duties: Perform duties related to special projects within FMD as needed. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, business computer systems, or related field. Experience in data modeling, interpreting insights, and presenting narratives and visualizations. Proficiency in Qlik Cloud or Qlik Sense Enterprise (including data architecture with load scripts), Power BI, Power Query, and Data Modeling in Power BI. Proficiency in Python or equivalent analytics languages, SQL, and familiarity with databases. Knowledge of data modeling concepts. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with AVEVA PI System, Tridium Niagara, SkySpark, ESRI ArcGIS, and building automation systems (e.g., Automated Logic WebCTRL). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Expertise in data management and governance; experience with data analytics and visualization tools (Qlik Cloud, Power BI); understanding of data analytics and architecture concepts; experience with low-code/no-code tools (SmartSheet, Power Apps); experience writing SQL; experience connecting to web service APIs; strong communication and collaboration skills; mission-driven with interest in sustainability. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders on data projects, maintaining dashboards and data models, managing data sources, and supporting data governance. The position is housed within UEM and aligned with FMD IT with appropriate access. Location : Athens Area.
