This position currently reports to the Laboratory Support Unit Director in the School of Science, Engineering and Mathematics. The position is on-site and in-person and is located at the West Charleston, North Las Vegas, or Henderson campus. However, multi-campus travel may be required. Position priority tasks are the preparation and breakdown of equipment and supplies for science laboratory classroom instruction.

Responsibilities include working with various equipment, chemicals and/or biological materials, and the proper handling, storage, and disposal, of equipment, various hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, and biological materials in accordance with appropriate regulations/procedures. * Set-up and break-down of laboratory materials and equipment necessary for instructional laboratories for classes taught in the School of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.* Potential handling of live and preserved microbe, plant, and animal specimens.* Preparing media, chemical solutions, and laboratory equipment.* Using physical and/or biological sciences equipment that may include microscopes, general chemistry laboratory equipment, PCR thermocyclers, environmental chambers, autoclaves, simple electrical circuits, velocimeters, multimeters, and higher analytical equipment.* Replenishing and maintaining an inventory of supplies and keeping inventory records.* Maintaining clean, safe, organized laboratory areas.* Properly handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials including biological, chemical and/or electronics waste.* Coordinating with the supervisor, other Staff Research Associates, Academic Faculty, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the required area of specialization and one year of professional research experience either in the field or in a laboratory; **OR** one year of experience as a Staff Research Associate I in Nevada State service; **OR** an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.* Resume - List a detailed description of the major duties that you performed as part of each job.
