The Department of Health Science invites applicants for a Professor of Practice, at the assistant level in Exercise Science, to begin in August 2026. The position does not require scholarship in the field, and there is potential for promotion. The new faculty member will join a department with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty and students, and will serve the health science and exercise science undergraduate majors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach Introduction to Exercise Science, Applied Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Musculoskeletal Anatomy Lab, and Strength & Conditioning courses. Maintain a four-course load in each fall and spring semester; lab courses count as full courses. Provide academic advising for Department of Health Science students and participate in department and college service (e.g., events for prospective students and families, rotating committee work). Education and/or Experience

Doctorate in a health-related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Movement Rehabilitation, Human Movement Science, Athletic Training, Sports Science) or an appropriate terminal degree. Work experience in the healthcare industry is beneficial but not required. Previous experience mentoring undergraduate students strongly preferred; previous undergraduate teaching experience strongly preferred but not mandatory. If applicable, describe approach to equitable instruction and creating belonging for marginalized groups. If no prior teaching/mentoring experience, describe how you will uphold DEIJ principles in instruction, advising, and broader institutional service. Opportunity to propose an upper-level specialty course; short course description can be added as an addendum to the personal statement. Preferred Qualifications
