Overview The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time tenure-track assistant professor position with a 9-month academic appointment, beginning fall 2026. The successful applicant will teach both at the undergraduate and graduate level; engage in research activities; advise and mentor students; engage in internal and external service activities within the general areas of quantum computing, quantum photonics and quantum devices; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong expertise in the broad area of quantum computing, quantum photonics, quantum devices and quantum interface circuits with application areas related to enhanced sensing (including biosensing), integration with classical high performance computing, enhanced machine learning, secure communications.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong expertise in foundational research on experimental realization of quantum devices and systems.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; engage in research; advise and mentor students; participate in internal and external service activities; engage in the department’s activities; and serve the profession.

Additional details

As a major department with an enrollment of about 1,500 undergraduate, 300 Ph.D. and 450 masters students, the department’s mission includes discovery, education, and outreach.
