Postdoctoral Positions in Neurology & Neuroscience Research
We are inviting applications for 2 postdoctoral positions at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, Department of Neurology & Neuroscience Research Institute. Our lab focuses on axon-glia interactions and how glial metabolism regulates axon integrity and myelination (e.g.,
Nature Neuroscience , PMID 32807950;
Nature Neuroscience , PMID 25195104;
PNAS , PMID 28484008). Current projects include in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies on how metabolic perturbations in oligodendrocytes lead to compromised axon integrity, and research on metabolic adaptations in Schwann cells/oligodendrocytes that support injured axon survival. Responsibilities
Pursue specialized research training, education, and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor. Plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity. Collect and analyze data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and institutions. Identify research problems and develop troubleshooting techniques. Attend research seminars and contribute to manuscript preparation and technical writing. Participate in preparing grant applications for extramural funding. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding performance in previous studies, evidenced by their own publications. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in biomedical sciences with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience, be highly motivated, and possess good communication skills. Strong language and writing skills are essential. Required: Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences; successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
