Advanced Practice Provider, Critical Care, ICU About City of Hope: City of Hope's mission is to make hope a reality for all touched by cancer and diabetes. Founded in 1913, City of Hope has grown into one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the U.S., and one of the leading research centers for diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. City of Hope's growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas. Responsibilities
Provides appropriate patient care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies in the ICU or step-down unit, including recording medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plans, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, discharge planning, and accurate medical record documentation. Educates patients in procedures, pharmacology, self-management of side effects, and available community resources. Provides symptom management for treatment-related toxicities. Facilitates communication regarding goals of care, including end-of-life decision making. Collaborates and communicates effectively with referring physicians/clinicians and stakeholders. Complies with hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations; ensures medical record entries are co-signed by the attending physician. Prescribes Category III and above drugs as indicated by state/federal licensing, and provides orders under physician supervision during assigned on-call duty. Performs rounds in Infusion Center or Inpatient Unit and writes progress notes as directed by MD and manager. Orders medications and develops treatment and evaluations with supervising physician; acts as liaison between patient, RNs and physicians. Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in Nursing with a specialty in a related field. Current Georgia RN license and Georgia Advanced Practice-NP license(s) required. National Board certification by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). ACLS (If not AHA, must obtain AHA certification within 30 days of hire). BLS (If not AHA, must obtain AHA certification within 30 days of hire). ONS certification (optional). AOCNP (optional). Minimum Experience Required
Strong medical skills in critical situations (triage). Ability to perform duties and manage time and tasks to complete daily work.
