The successful candidate:

The Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of a Surgical Oncologist to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients with or at risk for cancer. Responsibilities include clinical evaluation, perioperative management, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Assist the attending physician with inpatient rounds, outpatient follow-ups, consults, orders, and procedural support.

Collaborate with the surgeon to develop and implement treatment plans and assist with procedures, including OR first assist.

Recognize and evaluate situations requiring immediate attention of the supervising surgeon or physician.

Order therapy treatments, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic diets as needed.

Assess patients perioperatively and develop perioperative and discharge plans.

Conduct cancer surveillance in the office.

Obtain and record detailed medical histories.

Act as a liaison between nursing staff and physicians.

Facilitate patient referrals to health facilities, agencies, and community resources.

Complete documentation in accordance with policy.

Requirements:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification.

Georgia RN and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licenses.

Minimum of 3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience.

Preferred 2 years of surgical experience.

DEA registration within 2 months of hire.

ACLS and BLS certifications.

Optional: ONS certification and AOCNP.
