Dealer Principal / General Manager
The Controller is a key member of the dealership's leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with our Company requirements, and supports dealership management in making informed business decisions. The Controller provides leadership in financial planning, internal controls, and operational efficiency to help the dealership achieve profitability and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations, including AR, AP, payroll, general ledger, and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, manage cash flow, reconcile accounts, and handle working capital.
Generate detailed financial reports with performance insights, and process weekly payroll and monthly commissions.
Operational Controls
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard dealership assets.
Ensure compliance with all tax, legal, and regulatory requirements and coordinate external audits.
Oversee inventory accounting, including motorcycles, parts, accessories, and service.
Strategic & Business Support
Collaborate with leadership on budgets, forecasts, and business planning.
Provide financial analysis to guide pricing, expenses, and investments, while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Oversee manufacturer financial statements and ensure timely submission to Harley-Davidson.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage, train, and mentor accounting and office staff.
Establish performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting/financial experience, preferably in the automotive or powersports industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and dealership financial reporting.
Experience with dealership management systems (Talon, CDK, Lightspeed); Talon preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools as well as Google Drive.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
