Field Tech- Power Systems Technicians or NETA Technicians are expected to perform service, test, and maintain various types of power transmission and distribution equipment. Responsibilities and Duties
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and/or high voltage (up to 500kV) electrical systems. Test switchgear and circuit breakers of low, medium, and high voltage. Perform inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of transformers, circuit breakers, and related equipment – 45 KVA to 130 MVA, dry type and/or oil filled. Maintain, test, recondition, and repair circuit breakers – low voltage 480V (molded case and air-magnetic), medium voltage up to 15KV (air-magnetic and vacuum). Experience with SF6 filled equipment and gas insulated switchgear is desired but not required. Test and inspect low and medium voltage cable installations. Operate high voltage test equipment including Doble Power Factor test sets. Perform start-up, troubleshooting, and repair on controls and transfer schemes. Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly when called. Ensure all work complies with regulatory laws and safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager. Required Experience and Qualifications
High School diploma/GED with minimum 1 year of related experience. Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, NEC, OSHA, and NFPA. Prefer experience with MCCs, breakers, relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, switchgear start-up up to 500kV, or military training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY). Must work safely and follow electrical safety procedures. Good understanding of electricity, problem-solving skills, effective communication, dependability, organizational skills, customer service, time management, computer skills, and a valid driver’s license for positions requiring a company vehicle. High School diploma/GED, minimum 2 years of experience, NETA Level II Certification. Performs testing and service work under supervision. Knowledge of industry standards, safety procedures, and electrical theory required. Power Systems Tech III
High School diploma/GED, minimum 5 years of experience, NETA Level III Certification. Performs testing, service, mentoring, and leadership. Responsible for complex tasks, record keeping, and guiding others. Power Systems Tech IV
Associate degree or equivalent, minimum 5 or 10 years of experience, NETA Level IV Certification. Leads projects, mentors Tech I-III, manages complex investigations, and performs electrical power switching. Sr. Field Tech
High School diploma/GED, 5 years of experience, knowledge of high voltage equipment up to 230kV, and project management skills. About RESA Power
