Athens Administrators has an immediate need for a Claims Supervisor to support our Southern California Workers Compensation department. Management that lives less than 36 miles from the Orange, CA office AND has a direct report in the office are required to work once a week in the office. The remaining days can be worked remotely if technical requirements are met, and the employee resides in Southern California. Athens offices are open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The employee works a 37.5-hour week with a flex schedule and every third Monday or Friday off. As a Claims Supervisor, you will lead and collaborate with Athens management to achieve company goals, run reports, streamline processes, make daily claims decisions, review files for accuracy, and approve payments that exceed examiner authority. You will ensure quality file handling, accurate claims coding, and achievement of unit closing goals. You will plan, organize, delegate workloads, supervise daily activities, provide training, and guide the team. In client management, you will address policy and claims issues, build client relationships, attend meetings, document interactions, and ensure adherence to client instructions and Athens Best Practices. Responsibilities

Claims Leadership: Work with Athens management to achieve company initiatives; streamline processes; authorize release of payment and settlements; make daily claims decisions; review claim files for accuracy; run reports; approve payments and reserve increases above authority; collaborate with clients, attorneys, and management on settlements and strategies; provide timely client communications; discuss medical treatment with medical case managers; ensure accurate claims coding and quality file handling; meet unit closing goals. Employee Management: Plan, organize, delegate workload; supervise daily activities; coordinate training; participate in onboarding; provide guidance and performance feedback; conduct staff meetings; maintain open communication; address issues. Client Management: Manage client relationships; attend client and internal meetings; ensure diaries/notepads are completed per instructions; obtain audit results; act with integrity in clients' best interest; document client meeting notes. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise 6-10 employees; participate in Leadership Summit every 18 months (onsite). Fiscal Responsibilities: Approve direct report expenses; monitor expenses; identify cost improvements; understand wage and hour laws; approve timecards timely. Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; AA/AS or BA/BS preferred but not required Current Experienced Indemnity Claims Adjuster Designation Administrators Certificate from Self-Insurance Plans (required within 1 year if not already obtained) Completion of IEA or equivalent courses Solid knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, policies, and procedures 3+ years recent workers compensation claims handling at a high level 5+ years in a Workers’ Comp claims lead or supervisor role preferred (at least 2 years supervisory experience required) Proficiency in determining case value and negotiating settlements; TPAs preferred Understanding of medical and legal terminology; strong attention to detail; ability to meet multiple deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with claims systems (ClaimsXpress preferred but not required) Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work under stress; trustworthy and team-oriented; ability to manage confidential information Valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel, including in-office file reviews and meetings Apply
