Prepare bank reconciliations for several bank accounts. Prepare reconciliations of various employee benefits and payable GL accounts. Prepare credit card purchases and PO reconciliations. Track various grants and projects for departments and follow up as needed on revenues and expenditures related to those grants/projects. Applies and assist other departments in enforcing internal control policies and procedures. Assists with preparation of working papers for external independent auditors as applicable. May participate in month-end/year-end closing activities. May participate in the preparation and maintenance of budgets as needed. Remains abreast of laws, regulations, and policies through participation in conferences and continuing education as applicable. Learn Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) pronouncements and apply them to daily operations and financial reporting to comply with standards. Participates in software demos and upgrades related to financials, as applicable. Other various duties to be determined. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to analyze, research, and correct accounting errors or discrepancies to ensure accurate accounting. Ability to analyze fiscal data and draw logical conclusions; define accounting problems and recommend effective solutions; detect possible weaknesses of internal control and standard accounting procedures and recommend revisions. Ability to verbally communicate accounting procedures and policies clearly to others. Ability to use personal computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word software. Knowledge of Munis financial software a plus. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, be independent, maintain confidentiality, and self-sustainable. An understanding of the statutory and regulatory accounting and budgeting requirements for NC Local Government. Education, Experience, and Training

Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Business Administration with concentration in accounting/finance may be considered) and minimum of 1 year of professional accounting experience preferred. Certification as a CPA/CLGFO or willingness to obtain, master’s degree in accounting, and/or experience in local government a plus. May consider a candidate with an associate’s degree in accounting with 2-3+ years prior work experience. Grade 68 ($48,831- $55,248) based on experience+ Benefits Posting Date:
