Position Summary The Cost Accountant assists with month end closing, preparation of reporting packages, and pursues process improvements such as report automation using current or future ERP applications and cost and variance analysis. Coordinate inventory related activities with Inventory Control and help ensure overall inventory accuracy. Works under the Plant Controller to ensure timely submission of deliverables. The role is based in Joplin MO.
Essential Responsibilities
Utilize current ERP applications and software, automate creation of monthly reporting packages to ensure timeliness and accuracy, providing direct download capabilities where possible to eliminate redundant data entry; also use extraction capabilities to perform ad-hoc projects and analysis.
Process daily timesheet postings for the manufacturing plant.
Assist with Joplin Bank Reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate entries to the GL.
Assist the Plant Controller with the annual budget process and perform monthly financial analysis for the plant.
Interact and assist internal and external customers with inquiries, problem resolution, training and other informational requests.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.), discipline in Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
1-3 years of Accounting Experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
Flexibility in schedule, initiative, willingness to learn, maintain effective and professional interaction with all levels.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize the deadlines.
Experience with Costpoint ERP and Power BI a plus.
Experience with business computer software (including MS Excel and MS Word).
