This position is 100% on-site.
Primary Objective of Position The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for assisting with monitoring operation of vehicle electronic equipment, computer networks, personal computers, communication, data and security systems. The Information Technology Specialist acts as a resource for investigating and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.

Monitors and troubleshoots in-vehicle mobile data terminals, auto annunciation equipment, automatic vehicle location, digital video recording systems, cellular and data radios, and two-way (voice) radios
Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems
Assists with network and server system operations to ensure continuity of service for administration, operations, and maintenance activities
Conducts research on system upgrades
Assists staff with computer and software orientation, assistance, and troubleshooting
Automatic vehicle location, setup and configuration of computer hardware, software, and peripherals
Assist with file storage, telecommunications, Wi-Fi, data integrity and backup, and emergency power backup
Communicates courteously and professionally and maintains respectful working relationships with coworkers and customers in carrying out job functions
Performs all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practices
Knows and follows safety rules and guidelines as well as sound work and safety practices in order to accomplish the job objectives and avoid injury or loss
Wears proper protective equipment when policy requires or conditions indicate a need exists and utilizes proper body mechanics and ergonomics while performing work
When potentially unsafe conditions are observed, makes efforts to avoid or correct them if they are controllable and draws them to the attention of the responsible supervisor or safety representative in a timely manner
Performs other duties and activities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications The job requires two (2) years of post-secondary education in computer science or a related field of study and three (3) year of experience directly related to the essential functions of the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required include
Demonstrated background and experience in server and personal computer system configurations and operations
Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills
Proficient understanding of PC based internet, productivity, and database software including the ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot server and PC software
Ability to maintain confidentiality of critical records and information
Ability to maintain security systems for all facilities and IT equipment
Maintain awareness of new and emerging hardware and software technologies
Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows Server, Active Directory, and vSphere
Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships and able to deal tactfully and courteously with coworkers, the general public and community groups
Must be able to read and speak English clearly. Bilingual a plus
Must possess a valid driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility
Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the organization
Interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and/or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, committees and groups; and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limits
Desirable Qualifications
Two (2) year degree or certification in computer science or a related field
Public Transit experience
Physical Demands and Working Environment
This position is alternately in an office and garage environment requiring alternating periods of sitting, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching
Utilizes personal computer, phone and other office equipment on a regular basis
Will require travel between all Metro Bus facilities and occasional travel offsite. Will primarily utilize a Metro Bus vehicle for travel
