Job Title
Senior SQL DBA (Hybrid)
Location Lansing, MI
Duration 1 year with possible extension
Pay Rate $70/hr on C2C / 1099 all inclusive (OR) $65/hr on W2
Interview Process Virtual Interview via MS Teams video. Candidates must be available for an in-person interview on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Hybrid Schedule Hybrid: Resource will be on site day 1, two days a week. No remote only option. Local candidates only – must be within 2 hours of Lansing, MI.

Job Description Responsible for data analysis and database management. Involved in maintenance, enhancement, design of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning. Coordinates physical changes to computer databases, codes, tests, and implements physical database changes, and applies knowledge of database management systems.
Responsibilities
Establish physical database parameters and use SQL DDL and DCL to define and control database objects.
Enter SQL to create production database, use database utilities and third‑party tools to monitor performance, and improve processing performance.
Perform data modeling, prototyping, and database design, ensuring consistency with application requirements.
Load, reorganize, and maintain databases, performing security recovery procedures and implementing search strategies.
Assist with database security standards, disaster recovery procedures, installation of software, and benchmarking.
Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks, analyze logs, trace data, and collaborate with IT and DevOps teams.
Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls; enforce database documentation standards.
Lead development of SQL and PL/SQL code, reviewing and optimizing functions, procedures, and packages.
Collaborate with architects to design robust database solutions and enforce database policies and procedures.
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances; perform backups, restores, recovery testing, and maintain performance and security using tools like SSMS, SQL Server Agent, SolarWinds, Redgate, and Idera.
Implement monitoring, troubleshooting, and support processes, including proactive identification of issues and coordination of server and file system setup.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and high‑availability strategies, and support data transfer and transformation processes with data warehouse teams.
Qualifications
12–14 years of experience in database administration and development.
Strong proficiency in T‑SQL and PL/SQL with expertise in query optimization and performance tuning.
Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Agent, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Redgate, or Idera.
Solid understanding of database security, backup strategies, recovery models, and high availability configurations.
Familiarity with ETL processes, PowerShell scripting, and Azure SQL is a plus.
Proven ability to enforce development standards across teams.
Communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with SQL (10 years), PowerShell (6 years), Azure DevOps (6 years), and Scrum (6 years).
