Night Shift Supervisor - Data Center Operations
Role overview: The Data Center Operations Shift Supervisor will oversee the FISA-OPA Shift C operations team within the Shared Systems Division. The individual must be self-motivated with a positive attitude and be willing and able to work with job operations, application, infrastructure and facilities teams on day-to-day operational and longer-term strategic projects. The role is hands-on and requires physical presence at the FISA-OPA data center(s). This is an essential function and requires on-site coverage, including 12-hour shifts, weekends on rotation, and on-call escalations as needed.
Hours/Shift 12-hour/day work schedule: Mon-Wed or Thu-Sat (alternate week) with a start time no later than 7:30 p.m. and shift ends at 8:00 a.m. On-site coverage on Sundays on a rotational basis. Occasionally may receive escalation calls on Sundays if scheduled for offsite coverage.

Responsibilities
Mainframe System Operator Functions: Monitor mainframe online batch operations; monitor and respond to WTO commands; monitor JES queues; vary failed drives offline; start/stop started tasks per schedule and request; reprioritize job class assignments for priority workloads.
Coordinate and execute mainframe LPAR IPLs for shifts.
Printer Operations and Supplies Management: Ensure supplies (envelopes, inserts, check stock, pre-printed forms, roll paper, box paper, etc.) are available in the data center stock room in advance of schedule print jobs; liaison with facilities to move supplies from warehouse to print room floor.
Coordinate periodic servicing, calibration and maintenance of printers, cutters, and unwinders; ensure equipment is configured to provide redundancy for all critical print jobs.
Under the direction of the Data Center manager: develop and monitor processes to log check print operations per audit requirements; perform root cause analysis on print equipment failures; create and update procedures for high-speed printers to accept jobs from Info print and mainframe print queues.
Mailing/Inserter Equipment Management: Ensure new/updated mail items pass representative tests and meet FISA-OPA mailing standards; test AIMS software upgrades.
Management of Data Center Equipment and Print Workspaces: Escalate failure of infrastructure teams to comply with data center workspace policies; enforce a clean, clutter-free workspace; ensure items are discarded as appropriate for shredding; ensure test print jobs are clearly labeled or discarded.
Quality Control for Check Print/Handling Functions: Author and update procedures for QC of check stock, alignment, end-of-run, storage, voided checks; reconcile expected vs inserted print forms using AIMS; handle damaged forms.
Distribution and Courier Management: Coordinate distribution operations with the FISA-OPA Mailroom, OPA Check Distribution Units, QA teams, and Facilities for transportation of large print jobs; provide courier instructions for external-site deliveries.
Minimum Qualifications
A certificate from an accredited technical school (approximately 675 hours) with specialization in computer operations, and two years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience in a large-scale networked, multi-tiered, or mainframe environment; or
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described above; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described above; or
A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least two years of full-time experience as described.
Preferred Skills/Experience
Knowledge of IBM Z series mainframe.
Knowledge of TSO.
Familiarity with Tape Auto Libraries.
Familiarity with large laser and MICR Ricoh/OCE printers and Tecnau equipment.
Experience with UNIX Systems is a plus.
10+ years managing large-scale Data Center Operations.
Knowledge of Neopost check inserter is a plus.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with limited supervision, and to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated and able to work with other groups in an enterprise-wide matrix environment.
